The Sweetheart Dinner and Dance was held at J.W. Crancers with cocktails followed by dinner and dancing. We enjoyed Chicken Florentine served with pasta and with marinara and 3-cheese Alfredo sauces, green beans salad and french bread. A dessert bar topped off the meal with the cheesecake bites and cream buffs being most popular. We all enjoyed the dancing and the interesting conversations during the evening. Our group was joined by Phil and Connie, who several of our group knew from working, walking and/or doing plays. Such a fun evening!

Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) programs are 501 (c)(3) organizations that must raise their own funds to maintain their programs in any given community. CASA programs use average citizens to advocate for children who are abused and neglected and are involved in the court system. Each individual program trains and certifies its volunteers and relies solely upon their investigations and case work to provide information directly to the juvenile and domestic court judges who preside over the cases. In 2013, Leavenworth CASA volunteers gave over 4,200 hours of documented service and advocated for 200 children in Leavenworth County.
