Every day before lunchtime, the ship’s crew would light the charcoal in the VERY large grills on the pool deck. Each lunch was a different from the day before. A couple of port days we claimed lounge chairs, got our breakfast from the Garden Café and returned to the pool area to eat. After eating we enjoyed the pool and hot tub. The pools were filtered salt water from the Pacific and refilled every morning. The water temp was whatever the sea water temp was; some days cool, some days warmer. Save
The Port of Los Angeles, also called America’s Port, is a port complex that occupies 7,500 acres of land and water along 43 miles of waterfront and adjoins the separate Port of Long Beach. It is the busiest passenger port of call on the United States West Coast. The port is also the number-one freight gateway in the United States when ranked by the value of shipments passing through it. From the ship we could see the bright light, in the picture to the right. Don’t know what it is, but it was bright!! Save
We arrived in Las Angeles met up with the Rotchfords to the Best Western Plus North in San Pedro. The hotel was just ten minutes from the port. We got in early and could not check-in so we left our luggage, the guys wandered out to find snacks and drinks. The dining room, used for breakfast, was a nice comfortable area to visit. The lobby and dining room had beautiful antiques. After we got settled in the room, we ordered deliver from Niko’s pizzeria and 30 minutes later we were eating delicious Italian food.
