We took Samantha to the Renaissance Festival and she just had to have a Henna tattoo. Henna is a plant, when made into a paste by drying the leaves, mashing and mixing with water, lemon juice, or strong tea. It is then applied to the skin where it will stain the skin within minutes. The longer the henna is on the skin the deeper the stain becomes. The henna flakes off and an orange stain remains. Over the next two to three days the tattoo darkens and then fades in two to three works. The artist that did Samantha’s was very nice and while talking to him was told he had designed the tattoo Samantha was getting. Save

For Father’s day the kids gave Steve flight time at the IFLY in Kansas City. IFLY is an indoor skydiving facility that simulates the sense of free fall conditions in a vertical wind tunnel. The flight chamber has fans at the top that push the air down two tunnels on each side of the chamber. The air is then pushed back up into the flight chamber giving a smooth column of air that is used to fly. This is the top of the chamber where the fans are located. The pictures aren’t too clear but all considered (glass and speed) it was the best we could get. This is the bottom of the chamber where the air is returned. This is the controller of the air speed in the chamber. The instructor and the controller communicate with hand signals during the flight. This is the clock so the instructor knows …
It had been a busy day of sightseeing, our feet and backs were tired and our stomach were full as we headed back to our hotel. Once back, we all gathered in Dee and Holan’s room where they had iced down, in their trash can, two bottles of Moscato, from the ship. Someone looked out the window and notice a woman in a room on the third floor across the street. She was on a table and a man was working on her. We took turned watching and guessing what procedure she was having done. Was it a Botox injection, tattoo eyeliner, or permanent false eyelashes? We got to talking and missed her leaving the building …. we will never know.
In the 89th Macy’s parade there were more than a thousand clowns dancing and throwing confetti down the streets of New York. These pictures cannot show the interaction the clowns had with the spectators as they marched. To be a clown in the parade, you have to attend Clown U or do an online clown training and sign a Clown Oath. The oath outlines good clown behavior for the parade. The training was done by professional clowns who stressed to the trainees that they should be careful with their bag of confetti and not to accidentally throw the entire bag at a single spectator. The clowns met at the New Yorker Hotel at 5:45 to put on their costumes and make-up. The clowns were back at their starting point by 11 a.m. where hot chocolate and snacks were served. The Half-Baked Holiday Clowns are sure to warm up your appetite …
The balloons looked a lot different from last night. The netting and sandbags had been removed and the balloons, without much wind, were allowed to flying high. If the Kool-Aid Man Balloonicle were an actual pitcher of Kool-Aid there would be over 10,000 gallons to share. He is high as 3 story building, as wide as 5 taxi cabs, and has 8 handlers. Novelty Balloon the handlers obey the request of the parade viewers to “bounce the balloon.” Star of Macy’s “Yes, Virginia” sweetly floats clutching her special letter. She is as high as 3 story building, as wide as 4 taxi cabs, as long as 4 bicycles, and has 32 handlers. Thomas the Tank Engine is as high as 4 story building, wide as 5 taxi cabs, long as 9 bicycles, and has 90 handlers. Elf on the Shelf is as high as 5 story building, wide as 6 taxi …
Holan had a new store for us to check during are trip today. Scheels opened the company’s new flagship store in Overland Park, Kansas in Corbin Park in late June and has 220,000 feet two-story building of retail shopping. Shopping is a very good word to describe this store. It has something for everyone and if you don’t like shopping there are other things to do. The different shops offer technical running gear the latest fashion, hunting, athletic shoe, hiking boot, and casual footwear. Selection is largest in Overland Park with everything for toddlers to all athletes, serious hikers, beach goers, hunters and the fashion conscious. Steve gave some of the kids a ride on his scooter. I don’t know if there are any other pictures but these are the only two that were shared. Samantha really enjoyed her ride and kept wanting to go further and further. Not so sure Mom and Dad were happy that she enjoyed it. The other rider is Lily. I know Parker, Lily’s brother, also took a ride. Since I wasn’t out there not sure how many kids he took out. There doesn’t seem to be any pictures of the kids on the trampoline so lost out on that activity also.
