We flew from Kansas City to Dallas, where we met up with the Rotchfords. Fred had arranged for us to fly first classes so it had been a very nice flight. In Dallas we waited in the American Airlines Admirals Club were we had complimentary juice, coffee, soft drinks, herbal tea and light snacks. They also had a cash bar. Just some of the snack that the Admirals Club had.
This was the bar area. They also had an exercise room, showers, business center and lots of outlets everywhere to charge telephones and laptops.
Once we boarded the plane, the flight attendant offered us mimosa, champagne, coffee, tea or soda as our pre-departure beverage. We enjoyed a couple of mimosa as the other passengers boarded.
A ramekin full of a hot tropical mixed nuts mixture was delivered to us as soon as we were in the air. The mix included almonds, cashews, coconut flakes, and candied pineapple. Drinks of our choice were also served. The mix was so good we had to have a second ramekin of nuts.
Our first course for dinner was a salad with Cabbage & Carrots and a choice of Caesar or ginger vinaigrette dressing.
For our main course, Steve and I had the Macadamia nut chicken with pineapple papaya marmalade. Our side was steamed spinach with a choice of King’s Hawaiian bread or traditional white and wheat bread rolls. We were offered Red Tree Merlot or Chardonnay Wine with dinner. I tried the Chardonnay, then the Merlot and ended up with a diet coke. The wines weren’t sweet enough for me. I thought the little salt and pepper shakers were cute and so was the small bowl of butter.
For dessert we got to choose between an ice cream sundae or a cheese place. Of course, we went with the sundae. We had a choice of hot fudge, strawberries or crushed pineapple over vanilla ice cream. I went with the pineapple topping, chopped pecans and topped with whip cream. It was a wonderful sundae.
Finally for a late night snack, warm Macadamia Nut Chocolate or a Cranberry-White Chocolate Shortbread cookies. Of course, you could always have more than one.
