Cute & Festive

Bully Hill Winery, located overlooking the Keuka Lake, was a fun place from the time we walked in until we left. The venue was cute and festively decorated. In 1970 Walter Taylor with his father, Greyton H. Taylor, founded Bully Hill. It produces 200,000 cases of wine a year and has over 150,000 visitors a […]

Centering, Opening, Throwing & Forming

Rocky Hill Pottery was on schedule as one of our activities. We arrived and looked at the pottery in the shop. The owner of the studio then gave us a demo on how to use the clay and wheel. It was then our turn to put our clay on the potter’s wheel. We learned to […]

Snug

After touring local wineries, Debbie at the Black Sheep Inn recommended Snug Harbor, just outside of Hammondsport. The restaurant is located right off the shore of Lake Keuka’s. It was a quaint little restaurant built-in the 1890’s. There were several options for seating, a two-story porch, under the veranda or inside. We decide to take […]

“The Glen”

We stopped by Watkins Glen International (nicknamed “The Glen”), an automobile race track. It is known around the world as the home of the Formula One United States Grand Prix.  We looked at the cars on display and Steve and Bill climbed to the top of the bleachers.

Races in 1940s

Watkins Glen, located in the southern tip of Seneca Lake, is the spiritual home of road racing in the USA, with crowds flocking to see races since the 1940s. The first race took place on a challenging 6.6 mile course that encompassed asphalt, cement and dirt roads in and around the village. Permission had to […]

Racing and Food

The International Motor Racing Research Center is home to one of the world’s largest archival collections of materials representing the history of amateur and professional motor racing. We were looking for a place for lunch a found Savard’s Family Restaurant on the corner of the main street. It looked as if it had once been […]

An American Cool Town

We drove around the village square in the heart of the Hammondsport, voted one of America’s Coolest Small Towns in 2012, looking for a place to have dinner. Among the old and classic buildings we found The Union Block Italian Bistro. It was very busy so we checked out the surrounding stores to pass the […]

Slushies

Passion Feet Wine Barn is a playful winery is for the hopeless romantic.  Aside from the refreshingly delicious wines and the famous Wine Slushies served in this tasting room, there were endless amounts of gifts and trinkets to buy.

A Touch of WWII

War Horse Brewing Co. was all decked out with WWII memorabilia and music. The walls are adorned with prints and photos honoring those who have served and fought for our freedom. The tasting here included the Red Apple Bombshell Raspberry Hard Cider, Orange Cream Soda (think melted creamsicle) and Root Beer.

A Rundown Shack

Bagg Dare Wine Company is possibly the most photographed winery on the Estate and was the most fun. The building sits at the back of the property, is made to look like a rundown shack on a bayou, accessible by an old dirt walking path.  Rusted out trucks and gas pumps are some of the decor we […]
