The hotel building was quirky, including the original lift with metal sliding grille door. Our room was on the 5th floor so we got to use the elevator a lot. For an elevator of its age it was very quite and smooth. There are 48 rooms in the Andrews so at times you must wait to go up or down. When guest were checking in it took some two trips to get their luggage upstairs due to the smallness of the elevator.

We had a room that they called deluxe. It wasn’t very big but big enough, after all we didn’t spend much time in it. We met a couple, when were having our wine one night, she joked that you could potty, shave your legs in the sink and wash your feet in the shower…..all at the same time. Two doors down from the hotel was a little shoppette where we purchased drinks when we returned to the room every night. The clerk joked if the store was open then he was there. We saw him every time we passed, didn’t matter what time of day it was.
