These are the text that started that night and continued into Saturday. They tell how things were going in TX and responses from family and friends.
Samantha sent a text to Papa after being told he wasn’t feeling well.
The morning started off good, with Steve feeling much better. He had a waffle for breakfast then he and Rick were off for the three-mile walk they needed to get in before the march tomorrow.
While the guys were out walking, Fred and I headed to Target to talk to the pharmacist her recommendations on what meds we could give Steve. She said Pedialyte was the best thing for him to drink and she did not recommend Prebiotics at this point. We explained how his week had been and we were thinking it might be food poisoning. We told her about dinner and that he had a Margarita on Thursday night. She could not believe he had a Margarita that close to doing a Marathon. She was not encouraging that he would be about to do the march but was very strong that he should NOT have any liquor either way. She was very concerned about dehydration. We picked up the Pedialyte and headed home. Lupe had homemade chicken salad for lunch. It was very good and Steve enjoyed half of a sandwich with his Pedialyte. Rick headed out to do some sightseeing in the El Paso area. Then things turned bad. By mid-afternoon Steve was running a fever and had chills. This continued for the rest of the afternoon. Fred and Lupe went off to church and Rick returned from his sightseeing.
