In 1970 we were married in Madisonville, KY at Christ The King Catholic Church.
We had gotten engaged the summer before right after I graduated from high
school. This is the announcement in the local paper of the upcoming
wedding.
Â
Several years ago I found the paper clippings and other items and decided
to put them in a scrapbook. It was fun reading the article below. Neither
Steve or I remembered having a rehearsal dinner, bridesmaid luncheon,
or showers.
Â
This is Jociene, she was Mother of the Bride and had raised me from age 13
to 20, the day of the wedding.
Â
Jawana, helping with my garter, and I have been friends since first grade.
Tracy and Suzy are helping me with my veil. Tracy became a friend when
Steve and I started dating. Such a good friend that it is her wedding dress
I am wearing. Suzy, Steve’s sister, and I met in 1964 when Steve and I
started dating.

David and Steve posing for the camera. They were childhood friends.

Here comes the Bride – Dad and me coming into the church.

To look at this picture, you would think we had a huge wedding. We did
have a large wedding party but it was small wedding.
Â
Â
In 1970 my favorite flower was daisies so that is what was on the cake
and table. The reception wasn’t like they are today. We had cake, punch,
nuts and mints. We did a receiving line then visited with the guest. We
did throw the garter and bouquet outside as we were leaving.

These pictures are of the families. The first one is Jociene and my Dad;
second is Dad, Jociene, Steve’s Dad and Mom; third is Jociene’s Dad and
Mom, and Jociene’s Grandmother; fourth is the parents again plus Steve’s
older sister.

Â
In stead of a large bouquet I carried my mother’s bible.
