Lots of Steps II

The Filbert Street Steps run through a garden tended to and paid for by the residents of the “street”. Many houses in this residential neighborhood are accessible only from the steps. As on paved streets, several fire hydrants and a solitary parking meter are located along the steps. One of the residents had a bee […]

Lots of Steps

After having breakfast we went to the Filbert Street Steps. The steps descend the east slope of Telegraph Hill along the line where Filbert Street would be if the hill weren’t so steep. We started up the steps and end at the art deco Coit Tower; sure of enough, there is an amazing scenic view […]

Breakfast

Cafe Mason and another place was recommended by the hotel desk for breakfast. But since we were hungry and  there was a long line at the other place, we decided The Cafe was our best option. While we waited for food Steve went over the day’s itinerary.

Here We Come

We arrived in San Francisco at 7:30 in the morning, so there was lots of time to explore on our first day. These are buildings we saw on our way to the hotel from the airport.

After we did our 6K walk around the lake at the Watkins State Park we walked down to the Watkins Homestead. Waltus Watkins built and ran a woolen mill on a piece of land he named Bethany Farms. In 1839 the family moved into a two room log cabin just right of where the current […]

Williams Creek Lake at Watkins Mill State Park

We did a 6K (3.728 mile) walk with Rick and Rumi at Williams Creek Lake. It was a very nice walk around the 100 acre lake. The path was paved with asphalt, which was nice compared to the last walk we took. The trail was through an oak hickory forest, with openings where the lake could […]

And Why Would You Want To Live In MN?

We traveled up to Richfield for Samantha’s 6th Birthday Party and Dance Recital onMay 2. We saw 25 cars off the road, 4 cars abandoned on the side of the road and 12 plows putting out chemical and clear the roads. Mason City MN had 6-8 inches of snowthat morning. By the time we got […]

Kilroys – A Fun Place

When we went to MN to spend time with Samantha during her Spring Break, we visited a store, Kilroys, in the Warehouse District of Minneapolis. They have a huge selection of antique and replica memorabilia. They have juke boxes, 1950s soda fountain furniture, gumball machines, gas pump globes, penny arcade machines, antique toys and the […]
